Who Dialectical Behavior Therapy Helps
Borderline personality disorder: intense fear of abandonment, unstable relationships, or feeling disconnected from yourself during intense emotional states, among other symptoms
Chronic self-harm or suicidal thoughts: cutting, burning, overdosing, or intrusive thoughts about ending your life
Emotions that escalate fast: shame spirals, sudden anger, or feeling fine one hour and completely hopeless the next, with little warning in between
Relationship patterns that keep repeating: pushing people away right when things get close, or holding on so tight it pushes them away anyway
Substance use that shows up as a coping skill: drinking, using, or other habits that show up specifically to dull the intensity when nothing else does
A Decade of DBT-Specific Training
Ashley spent over a decade practicing DBT in Seattle, inside one of the most established DBT communities in the country. She trained directly through the institute founded by Marsha Linehan, the psychologist who developed DBT, and has since become a trainer within that same institute.
Being a trainer means part of her work is teaching other clinicians how to deliver this treatment correctly, which requires a level of fluency in DBT that goes well past knowing the model.

How Dialectical Behavior Therapy Works
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was built for people whose emotions move faster than their coping skills can keep up with. It was developed specifically for borderline personality disorder and remains the standard of care for chronic self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and emotion dysregulation.

That struggle doesn't always look the way people expect. Plenty of high-functioning people still show up to work, meet their responsibilities, and seem fine on the outside. But functioning well on the surface isn't the same as having the tools to manage what's happening underneath. DBT teaches those tools directly.

The Four Skill Areas DBT Teaches
DBT is organized around four sets of skills, and most of the work in session is learning and practicing these directly:

Mindfulness
Noticing what's happening in your mind and body without immediately reacting to it
Distress Intolerance
Getting through a crisis or intense moment without making it worse
Distance Intolerance
Getting through a crisis or intense moment without making it worse
Emotion Regulation
Understanding and shifting emotional patterns that feel automatic
The Working Relationship
These skills get built with real material, not hypotheticals. In session, we work with whatever happened in your week: the urge you almost acted on, the argument that spiraled, the moment you needed to change course but didn't know how. We take that material and apply the skill that fits. Session by session, those skills start to hold on their own.
"We're in the boat together, and you're the one at the helm. You're the expert on your life. I bring the map and the skills that research shows that works. My job is to help you chart the course, not take the wheel."

The Science of Neuroplasticity: How We Train the Brain
Objective Data, Not Observation

Psychological diagnosis often relies entirely on subjective observation. We take a different approach. Utilizing advanced qEEG brain mapping, we measure your exact brainwave activity to identify the biological root of your symptoms. By comparing your results against expansive normative database, we remove the guesswork and develop a highly precise, individualized treatment protocol.
Harnessing Neuroplasticity

The human brain is incredibly adaptable. Think of neural pathways like paths through a forest: the more a route is walked, the more entrenched it becomes. Over time, anxiety or attention deficits become deeply ingrained habits of the nervous system. Neurofeedback leverages neuroplasticity to introduce new, healthier routes. We provide your brain with the exact information it needs to reinforce and strengthen entirely new pathways.

Sustainable, Non-Pharmacological Change
In a culture that constantly demands immediate gratification and temporary symptom management, neurofeedback offers a different reality. It is a non-pharmacological approach that requires dedication. Because we are fundamentally retraining how your brain operates, it is not a quick fix. Results build gradually through consistent training, providing your nervous system with the foundation required for sustainable, long-term regulation.
What to Expect When You Start
Whether you meet in our Roswell office or connect virtually from Alpharetta, Johns Creek, East Cobb, Sandy Springs, or anywhere else in Georgia, sessions follow the same structure.
1.
Your first session is a consultation, both of us figuring out whether this is the right clinical and personal fit for what you're bringing in.
2.
From there, the next 1 to 4 sessions are your assessment period. We go through your full history and build a real diagnostic picture before any treatment plan comes together.
